Create a countdown
Count down to any moment. Share the link — anyone can watch it tick, no sign-up.
Questions
Do I need an account?
No. Give the countdown a name, pick the date, time and timezone, and you get a link right away. There is no sign-up, no email address and nothing to install. The link works on any phone or computer with a browser.
What do people see when I share the link?
The same countdown you see, ticking live in their own browser. The moment you chose is pinned to the timezone you picked, so a 6 pm launch in New York is shown as 6 pm New York time for everyone, and the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining are correct wherever they are in the world.
Can I change or delete a countdown after sharing it?
Yes. When you create a countdown you also get a separate edit link containing a private access key. Keep that link: anyone who has it can change the name, date, timezone or theme, or delete the countdown. The share link on its own cannot edit anything. The browser you created it in also remembers the edit link for you.
What happens when it reaches zero?
The page flips from counting down to counting up: it shows how long ago the moment was (“Started 3 days ago”) and keeps ticking. The link keeps working and nothing is deleted automatically, so a countdown to a wedding or a launch still makes sense the morning after.
How far ahead can I set it?
Anything up to 100 years in the future, and up to a day in the past for something that has just begun. The name can be up to 120 characters and the optional description up to 2,000, so there is room for a sentence about what the moment is.
Can I add it to my calendar?
Yes. Every countdown page has an Add to calendar button that downloads a standard .ics file, which Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook all open directly. The event will be added in whatever timezone your calendar is set to.
Is my countdown private?
The link contains a random eight-character id that cannot be guessed and is never published anywhere, including search engines. But anyone you send it to can forward it, so keep the name and description to things you would be happy for a friend of a friend to read.
